Kiskanu

Gretchen & Jason Miller, Founders

Kiskanu is a vertically-integrated cannabis producer. Gretchen and Jason are partners in a farm in Humboldt, they have retail, manufacture and distribution. Kiskanu is a mom and pop business. Gretchen is a herbalist and formulates Kiskanu’s topicals.

Tell us about Kiskanu

Located in Northern Humboldt, our family owned and operated business benefits from over 20 years of experience in the cannabis industry. This knowledge is reflected in the quality and consistency of our hand crafted, small-batch beauty and wellness products.

We use premium organic whole plant extracts in a base of cold-pressed, virgin, organic oils. We are committed to supporting organic farming methods, sustainable practices, organic ingredients, and offering safe, lab-tested products to our community. We source hemp CBD from the United States. Our Hemp CBD Line contains between 0-0.3% THC (in compliance with the 2018 Farm Bill).

You talk about plant medicine. Can you say more?

Rather than isolates or concentrates, we believe in the effectiveness of whole plant medicine to imbue healing qualities into our products that are palpable. We have chosen the formulations to address a wide variety of ailments or concerns that many of us face. Along with our mission to keep Kiskanu as sustainable as possible, we hope to make our products just as accessible. We are passionate to share with the world the therapeutic qualities of the cannabis plant we have always believed in.

How does your farm help tell the Humboldt cannabis story?

Tucked off the grid in the foothills of the Northern Humboldt coastal range, our family farm operates in a unique microclimate ideal for growing premium cannabis flower. In addition to farming our own flower, we source premium plant material from other small, sun-grown family farms in Humboldt County. We are farmers.

You produce flower, topicals, tinctures.... What do you personally enjoy?

Jason: I’ve always had a passion for ice water hash extraction. Since we are cultivators, we trim the water leaves in the cultivation process, and extract hash from them. Once dried, we press it back together, or crumble it and use it on pre-rolls. I think of these pre-rolls as the Friday night joint.
