On behalf of licensed Humboldt cannabis businesses, HCGA requested a conversation to address barriers to on-farm trimming on permitted cannabis farms. On-farm trimming has emerged as a top priority for small and independent farms who are seeking to establish a craft cannabis brand.

On 2/9/21, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to place a permanent moratorium on the cultivation of industrial hemp in Humboldt County.
On Tuesday, February 9, the Board of Supervisors heard a report from the County Economic Development Department, followed by a presentation from the Humboldt County Visitors Bureau (HCVB), on their plan to market Humboldt County’s tourism resources for the next three years.
Based on the results of the HCGA policy survey, discussions with membership, historic HCGA policy priorities, and a sense for the policy issues most likely to emerge in 2021, staff has proposed, and HCGA’s policy commitee has approved, the following policy priorities.
Based on survey responses and other input, staff will develop a strategic plan to guide HCGA’s policy priorities in 2021. Once developed, the strategic plan will be voted on by the HCGA policy committee.
The Humboldt County Growers Alliance (HCGA) Governmental Affairs Program provides governmental relations, public policy, and advocacy activities on behalf of the plant-touching members of HCGA. The Government Affairs Program is directed by the Policy Committee, and implemented by HCGA staff members.
Last week the Humboldt County Dept. of Economic Development hosted two Town Halls for the Humboldt County Cannabis Marketing Assessment.
