🌿 Position Overview
The Humboldt County Growers Alliance (HCGA) is seeking a skilled, reliable, and communications-savvy Membership & Communications Coordinator to support our advocacy, member engagement, and public education programs.
This role is ideal for someone who is self-directed, highly organized, tech-proficient, and enthusiastic about supporting Humboldt’s cannabis community. The position plays a critical role in maintaining HCGA’s member communications, digital platforms, event coordination, and assisting with the 12 Jays of X-Mas Gift Box — a seasonal fundraising and marketing initiative led in partnership with Emerald Triangle Craft.
Training will be provided for all systems and responsibilities.
đź“„ Key Responsibilities
Member Communications & CRM Support
- Track and maintain member records in database
- Work with HCGA’s bookkeeper and treasurer to sync payments with database/CRM
- Reissue invoices or reminders for lapsed/failed recurring payments
- Support renewal messaging, campaigns, and weekly newsletters
Meetings & Member Engagement
- Draft agendas and coordinate weekly Industry Affairs Calls (IAC)
- Organize monthly in-person member mixers and assist with logistics
- Attend and support HCGA public mixers and events as needed
- Assist with annual HCGA Birthday Party (February)
Website & Social Media Management
- Maintain and update HCGA’s WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix websites
- Create and schedule Instagram content in alignment with current campaigns
- Highlight members, policy updates, and community news
Project Coordination: 12 Jays of X-Mas Gift Box
- Support execution of the 12 Jays campaign in collaboration with Emerald Triangle Craft
- From Fall through Winter, report directly to Judi Nelson (ETC) for daily task management while keeping HCGA Board informed
- Tasks include: application tracking, email support, website edits, vendor coordination, and event logistics
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend Marketing Committee meetings
- Contribute to the Ask for Humboldt campaign
- Assist with drafting end-of-year summaries, reports, and materials
đź”§ Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with WordPress, Wix, and Squarespace
- Proficient in Instagram for Business + Meta basics
- Skilled in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Wild Apricot)
- Excellent writing and formatting skills (social posts, newsletters, web)
- Comfortable with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar)
- Strong time management and communication
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
🔹 Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of Humboldt’s cannabis community and licensing ecosystem
- Experience with nonprofits, trade associations, or membership groups
- Event planning or grassroots campaign coordination experience
⏳ Time Commitment
- Estimated 15–20 hours/week with flexible scheduling (June–August)
- September–December: May increase to 20–25 hours/week during 12 Jays project

- June & July: $22-25/hour for up to 20 hours/week (~$1,760 – $2,000/month)
- August onward: The HCGA Board will reassess and may increase pay to $25–$30/hour based on performance and funding
